“For men and women are not only themselves; they are also the region in which they were born, the city apartment or the farm in which they learnt to walk, the games they played as children, the old wives’ tales they overheard, the food they ate, the schools they attended, the sports they followed, the poets they read, and the God they believed in. It is all these things that have made them what they are, and these are the things that you can’t come to know by hearsy, you can only know them if you have lived them. You can only know if you are them.”
- Razor’s Edge, William Somerset Maugham
This is why people can’t know everything. This is why you shouldn’t listen to everyone, even if the majority say you should. You are never alone, but you aren’t in the same boat as everyone else either.
And in another point of view; Everyting around you have an effect on you. You weren’t born as the person you are today, therefore I’ll also say you should not thank God for who you are today. It’s the world around you - all the things you see, read etc.; and especially your interests that makes you to who you are - that’s what you should thank. That’s why I feel an extreme love to Marilyn Manson, William Francis, Edgar Allan Poe, Lou Reed and many other things and people. That’s also why I’m so proud of living in Norway.
